Lekan Ayo-Yusuf, having previously served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research & Innovation at the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU), is currently a Professor and Head of the School of Health Systems and Public Health at the University of Pretoria the Director of the Africa Centre for Tobacco Industry Monitoring and Policy Research (ATIM). With over 100 scientific publications in high impact international journals, his research interests include corporate determinants of health, tobacco control policy and related behavioural epidemiology and health systems resilience. He has co-authored a number of technical reports as a member of the WHO Tobacco Regulation Study group and co-authored a number of chapters in monograph/books. He has numerous national and international collaborations from a range of institutions in Africa, Europe and USA. He also collaborates with government, including serving as expert to the South African parliamentary portfolio committee on Health.
